Student Banking
We offer on-campus banking for students of Willamette, Thurston and Cottage Grove High
Schools.
We have student branches at three Lane County High Schools so we can help young adults
master financial survival skills. It’s part of our not-for-profit effort to brighten
futures in our community. Student Banking is a great way to learn about credit and help
build savings, but it’s also a convenient place to access an allowance or cash a check.
Our high school branches are all staffed by students (under credit union employee
supervision), because it’s a great way for young adults to build career skills.
No student branches in your area and curious about youth banking? Send
us a note online or talk to us at a branch near you.
Student Banking can help with the following:
How to participate
Students need two pieces of ID and a $5 deposit to get started. By signing the consent
form (get the form as a printable PDF at this link),
you’ll allow a minor to open an account by himself. The campus is only open to students
and staff, so our regular branches can help if you want something special (like a
parent-controlled VISA card).
Student accounts are very similar to regular accounts, but most fees are waived while in
school. Also, students can’t withdraw more than $50 per day (per account). Students can
open some accounts on their own, but rest assured, it’s not possible for minors to get
a car loan without a parent’s consent.
How do I get a Student Branch at my school?
If your school is in Oregon and near one of our branches, we’d love to talk to you.
Send us a message online or
