Quick guide to Account Alerts
Keywords for Transaction Types
Account transactions use important keywords in their description. You can set up
account alerts to let you know about most any kind of transaction by using these
keywords in the "Matching Description" box when setting up a Transaction Alert. For
instance, if you want to know when a check has cleared, set up an alert to notify you
when the keywords "Share Draft" appear in a transaction description.
To help you know which keywords or phrases to use, we have provided the guide below.
It tells you what the word or phrase means, and how you might use it to monitor
transactions on your accounts.
Check Transactions
- Share Draft – A check has cleared your account. These keywords can be
used if you wish to receive an alert the first time any check clears your account
on a given day. If you wish to know when a specific check has cleared, use the
“Checks cleared” category instead when setting up an Account Alert, and specify the
number of the check.
- W/D DRFT – This is the same as a Share Draft transaction; it means a
check has cleared your account. The only difference is that the merchant has first
converted your check to an electronic transaction instead of physically depositing
the check with its bank. The number of the check is included in the transaction
description. If the merchant uses this method to deposit your check, it is not
available for on-line viewing. We can, however, still provide you with a copy of
the check at your request.
Tip: If you wish to be notified every day that a check of any kind clears
your account, create two Account Alerts, one using the keyword Share Draft, and
the other using the keyword W/D DRFT. This will help ensure you get notification
regardless of the type of check that has cleared.
Debit and Credit Card Transactions
- ADVANCE – A VISA Cash advance has been made by you at an ATM or in
person, using your Visa Credit Card or a Line if Credit account.
- PURCHASE – A purchase has been made using your VISA debit or credit card
without requiring a pin authorization. This occurs whenever you use your card to
make a purchase, but do not enter a pin number into a machine while making the
purchase. Usually, this type of transaction requires your signature. Some merchants,
such as mail order companies and gas stations, allow the transaction without a
signature. The transaction description will also include the name of the merchant.
If you wish to be notified whenever this type of purchase is made at this retailer,
look up the transaction description from a previous purchase made there to see how
the name appears in the description. You can then enter the merchant name in the
“Matching Description” box to be notified whenever a purchase transaction is made
at that merchant.
- REV DB – A credit has been applied to your VISA debit or credit card.
This transaction occurs when your account has been credited back an amount by a
merchant; for instance, when you return an item to a store.
- WITHDRAW POS – A purchase has been made using your VISA debit card in
which you've entered a pin number to authorize the purchase. This type of purchase
is commonly used at grocery stores and other retailers that have a machine that lets
you enter a pin when you make your purchase.
Tip: These transaction descriptions usually contain the address of the place
you made your purchase. If you wish to be notified whenever this type of purchase is
made at a particular location or retailer, use the transaction description from a
previous purchase made there to see how the address appears in the description. You
can then enter this address in the “Matching Description” box to be notified
whenever a debit card transaction is made at that merchant’s location.
Withdrawal Transactions
- WITHDRAW – A withdrawal has been made from your account either
automatically (with your preauthorization), or by you over the phone or in person.
- WITHDRAW ATM – A withdrawal has been made from your account at an ATM.

- DEPOSIT – A deposit has been made to the account.

The name of the payee is included in the transaction description. If you wish to
know when any BillPay item has been sent for payment, use this keyword. Please note,
BillPay is one word, no spaces. If you wish to know when a specific BillPay item has
been sent for payment, enter the name of the payee exactly as it appears in your
BillPay list of payees.
- FEE AT – A fee for use of another institution’s ATM has been charged to
your account.
