Current NWCU Board Chair David Rainwater has served as a board director for the credit union since 2011, and as an executive committee member since 2014.

David holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA), as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Chapman College (Orange, California.)

Prior to his retirement in 2011, David was a scientist at Texas Biomedical Research Institute in San Antonio for twenty-seven years. He also pursued postdoctoral studies at Washington State University.

His additional credit union experience includes longtime memberships; as well as a decade of leadership participation serving Southwest Research Center Federal Credit Union Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors.

David’s certifications include CUES Certificate in Directorship Excellence (CDE 2023), CUES Certified Credit Union Director (CCD 2015), and the CUNA VAP program (Filene Award 2005, Raiffeisen Award 2007, and Credit Union Leadership Award in 2007.)

In his free time, David enjoys reading, golf, and volunteering.
