Northwest Community Scholarships for New and Continuing Students

 

Northwest Community Scholarship

A local scholarship for local students. The Northwest Community Scholarship assists new and continuing students in achieving their higher education goals.

Several $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate dedication to creating a positive impact in their community. Scholarships awarded may be used for tuition, books, and fees for the 2017 - 2018 school year. 


Eligibility:

  • Be a Northwest Community Credit Union member in good standing by April 3, 2017
  • Be a high school graduate or have a GED
  • Attend an accredited college in fall 2017 
  • Attend 9 or more credit hours, beginning the fall 2017 semester or quarter
  • Demonstrate service to the community

Larry Levine Memorial Scholarship

The Northwest Community Larry Levine Annual Scholarship is a memorial scholarship in the name of writer and educator Assistant Professor Larry Levine, who was killed along with eight UCC students in 2015. The Larry Levine Scholarship assists Douglas County students in completing their education and developing career opportunities even in the face of challenge.

Two scholarships up to $5,000 will be awarded each year to cover tuition, books, and fees for the 2017 - 2018 school year. 


Eligibility:

  • Be a Douglas County resident attending Umpqua Community College
  • Be a Northwest Community Credit Union member in good standing by April 3, 2017
  • Be a high school graduate or have a GED
  • Attend school 9 or more credit hours for 2017 Fall semester 
  • Demonstrate service to the community

Submit your scholarship application online. You can make changes to your application before the deadline, and you'll receive an email confirmation once you've submitted it. Apply online now.

2017 details and deadlines:

Submit your application by April  3, 2017. Selected scholarship recipients will be notified by May 12, 2017. Scholarship funds will be disbursed to recipient's college or university in Fall 2017.
Applicants will be evaluated on responses to essay questions with particular emphasis on demonstrated community service.
