Northwest Community Scholarship

A local scholarship for local students. The Northwest Community Scholarship assists new and continuing students in achieving their higher education goals.

Twenty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate dedication to creating a positive impact in their community.


Eligibility:

  • Be (or become) a Northwest Community Credit Union member in good standing
  • Be a high school graduate or have a GED
  • Attend a college (2 or 4 year) in Oregon
  • Attend school full time (9 or more credit hours) in upcoming Fall semester• Demonstrate service to the community

Larry Levine Memorial Scholarship

The Northwest Community Larry Levine Annual Scholarship is a memorial scholarship in the name of writer and educator Assistant Professor Larry Levine, who was killed along with eight UCC students in 2015. The Larry Levine Scholarship assists Douglas County students in completing their education and developing career opportunities even in the face of challenge.

Two $5,000 scholarships are awarded each year.


Eligibility:

  • Be a Douglas County resident attending Umpqua Community College
  • Be (or become) a Northwest Community Credit Union member in good standing
  • Be a high school graduate or have a GED
  • Attend school full time (9 or more credit hours) in upcoming Fall semester
  • Demonstrate service to the community

2016 deadlines have passed. Please check back next year for 2017 deadlines.

2016 details and deadlines:

Turn in your application by April 1, 2016. Selected scholarship recipients will be notified by May 4, 2016. Scholarship funds will be dispersed to recipient's college or university in Fall 2016.
Applicants will be evaluated on responses to essay questions with particular emphasis on demonstrated community service.
